Like many other Berliners, i ventured down South to Munich to attend the DLD conference. And just as i would often overhear at dinner and parties yesterday, i, too believe that DLD is the best conference about the digital space in Europe, period! At least the best i have ever attended. There are many reasons for this and I will write a detailed blog post making the case at the end of the conference tomorrow. But let me tell you that one reason is the quality of the talks and that is something everyone around the world can enjoy live as well, no need to buy a plus 3.000EUR conference ticket for that.
Follow the DLD here for live news and talks:

Asaf Moses (Upcload) straight from TechCrunch Disrupt in Beijing
UPcload, the startup that seeks to revolutionize online shopping by giving shoppers a simple way to measure their exact dimensions and thus lower return rates for e-tailers, was the only startup from Berlin that participated at TechCrunch Disrupt in Beijing.
Founder Asaf was kind enough to give TechBerlin a skype video call the same day he pitched UPcload on stage and share the experience with all of us.
Unfortunately UPcload did not make it into the finals, but that should not sadden Asaf and his team. Having been chosen to compete at Disrupt is a major achievement for such a young startup, something that most early stage companies can only dream of. He shares that experience with Berlin based Henrik Berggren from Readmill and Felix Petersen from Amen who took centre stage this year at TechCrunch Disrupt NYC and SF.
The question that remains: When will TechCrunch will bring Disrupt to Berlin. I am sure not only Asaf thinks that the time is ripe!
Catagonia, the investment company I work for, is hosting the Tech Tour for the DACH region this year, an event that is committed to the development of emerging technology companies in Europe.
The goal is to provide a platform that allows interactions between entrepreneurs, investors and industry players, eventually leading to facilitating or funding local companies looking to expand internationally. It also seeks to bring more transparancy to Europe’s regional markets and to build stronger relationships between its members and each region.
In the course of inviting the most interesting European startups to the event, i made a list for Berlin based startups. My suggestions were:
For me 6Wunderkinder and Soundcloud are the most impressive startups currently. Both managed to create an innovative product that does not lack in style what it offers in utility. What are your picks?
(For a discussion on Germany’s most interesting startups, you can also follow this question on Quora.)
